Livermore’s newest rock supergroup, featuring four musicians with ties to Bacchus Brothers, Tower of Power, and more! Mark Clarin and Don Veca (of Bacchus Brothers, the valley’s pre-eminent rock, funk and blues band) join guitarist John Whitney and drummer Kelly Fasman. Guitarist John Whitney hails from the legendary 60s band, The Spyders. Whitney has collaborated with Tower of Power members as a songwriter, written songs appearing on Marty Balin’s platinum album “Hearts,” and played guitar on Eddie Money’s hit “Maybe I’m A Fool.” Fasman’s impressive resume counts performances with Andrea Bocelli, Peter Cetera, the Moody Blues, Kenny Loggins, Joan Baez and Joan Rivers, as well as international appearances in both the worlds of rock and jazz music. Come rock out with these luminary musicians in the Livermore scene, all sharing one stage!
See them live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge, an award-winning tasting room and world-class music venue located in the heart of Livermore's urban wine, spirits and brewery district.
ABOUT SALLY & THE FIELDS
Kelly Fasman is a drummer, instructor and clinician. She has performed with Andrea Bocelli with the San Francisco Symphony, Peter Cetera, the Moody Blues, Kenny Loggins, Joan Baez, Joan Rivers and more. She was the house drummer with American Musical Theater of San Jose, and the Moscow Circus in Japan. Kelly has taught privately for over 35 years and has been a clinician in every jazz band in the Tri Valley, as well as The Graded School Jazz Festival in São Paulo, Brazil.
John Whitney began his musical career as a teenager in Ithaca, New York, and then continued in the Bay Area where he joined a highly successful R&B band, the Spyders, a band that would later inspire Tower of Power. With the Spyders in 1968, John first backed up Etta James. John rejoined Etta’s band in the late 70s and into the mid 80s. During the same span of time, John collaborated as a song-writer with Tower of Power’s Emilio Castillo and Doc Kupka. One tune, “Credit,” has appeared in several Tower CD’s and was included in Tower’s live set for years. John also wrote several tunes for Marty Balin’s platinum selling “Hearts” and played guitar on Eddie Money’s hit tune, “Maybe I’m a Fool.”
Mark Clarin is a Bay Area musician with 50 years experience as a professional musician, guitarist and vocalist. A founding member of the Bacchus Brothers, he has been writing and performing his works for 30 years. Mark has played his music on 3 continents, and you can find him performing solo, as part of “Thirsty”, “Idlewild”, “Longhorn Roundup”, “Sally and the Fields” and as a hired gun.
Don Veca has been working as Audio Director, and now Audio Principal at Sledgehammer Games/Activision since 2010, and at Electronic Arts for 18 years before that. He is credited on 41 games, including 2008’s Dead Space, and several titles in the Call of Duty series. Don is also a prominent musician in the Livermore scene, and one of the three founding members of Bacchus Brothers, the valley’s pre-eminent rock, funk and blues band.
