The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) is proud to present a special concert by Grammy winning Japanese-Canadian flutist & composer RON KORB on April 17th at 7:30pm in celebration of the stunning Sakura (cherry blossoms) on display surrounding the building.
The concert will be a rich musical extravaganza with Taiko drumming by Kyowa Taiko, traditional dance by Sakura Kai and Ayame Kai dance troupes, solo dancer Atsuko Abeta, plus singer, koto & shamisen player Aiko Fujii. Ron (on Japanese flutes) will be joined by Bill Evans on piano, Steve Lucas on bass, Larry Crowe on drums and Ray Hickey Jr on guitar and koto. The evening is a rich interpretation of a traditional Ohanami (cherry blossom viewing party). Gourmet matcha (green tea) and traditional Japanese sweets will be available to enjoy prior to the performance. Plus a special virtual guest appearance by Grammy winning Japanese instrumentalist Masa Takumi.
