Sake & plum wine tasting - Havelock North
Advertisement
Sample and learn about sake and umeshu (plum wine).
All from the award-winning Nakano Brewery in Wakayama, Japan.
There'll be several different styles of sake and plum wine for you to compare and learn about.
Pop into Advintage (4 Donnelly Street, Havelock North), anytime from 12pm to 3pm on Sat 29 August.
---
This region's sake is full of umami (the savoury fifth taste), so that it can stand up to the local cuisine, which is rich by Japanese standards.
Wakayama is also the top region in Japan for producing "ume" plums, the fruit used for making plum wine.
In fact "Wakayama umeshu" is a protected brand in Japan (like champagne for France), where the fruit and production method must meet strict standards to be called an umeshu from the region.
We're looking forward to sharing these different styles with you.
