Legal scholar Saira Mohamed has focused her career on the ethics of armed conflict and mass atrocity, in particular on the legal obligations of governments around the world to protect and care for their military personnel. At a time when our own leaders publicly extol the contributions of soldiers and veterans but strategically dismantle their support systems, not to mention their sense of safety, these questions—at the intersections of law and ethics—are more essential than ever. Join Mohamed as she discusses her new book What a Country Owes Its Soldiers, deeply informed by her research and arguing compassionately for policies that convey genuine respect for soldiers’ humanity.
