Safety in Faith Training

The JCSO is offering a free training on the topic of de-escalation for houses of worship. Faith leaders, administrators, safety team members, and volunteers, as well as interested members of the public, are invited to attend.

Bonnie Collins with the Jefferson Center for Mental Health will provide practical techniques to help de-escalate situations that security team members and faith leaders may encounter at their house of worship. She will describe the basic behaviors of someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, teach active listening skills, and offer actionable de-escalation techniques that can be implemented immediately. Bonnie is well-versed in the field of mental health and is an experienced presenter on the subject of de-escalation.
