(Upstairs at the Libertine Social, Worthing)The First SAFEHOUSE WORTHING Open Session!
Door open 7:00pm for a 7:30 start.
We are proud to be launching the Worthing branch of the Safehouse in the year of the 20th anniversary of the Brighton Safehouse.
The Safehouse is a monthly open session for musicians of all levels to improvise in a conversational way. Participants are randomly picked to form spontaneous groups that perform for about 10 minutes while the remaining musicians are the audience. Then a new group is picked. Typically everyone will play in three sessions over the evening.
Audience members are welcome too. You can come check it out and when you feel ready put your name in the hat.
There may or may not be any rhythm, tonal centre or structure to the pieces played. The music is free in that sense. No premeditated ideas or constrictions. Any sound is valid. It is a sonic conversation, in which players respond to each other as spontaneously as possible.
The key thing is it's a conversation so we strive to keep the volume within the range of the quietest instrument involved in the piece.
For this first event bring everthing you need to make sound.
(For future sessions we hope to provide two or three small amps for you to use - if we get that sorted before this first event we'll update this page.)
Cost: £3
