About this Event
Safe Baby Safe Child Conference
The Safe Baby Safe Child Conference is an event for clinicians, nurses, social workers, doulas and other healthcare professionals to come together for a day of learning and collaboration and aims to promote the health, safety, and well-being of children from birth through adolescence. This annual event aims to raise public awareness and provide education on critical issues impacting young lives, including Safe Sleeping, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Passenger Safety, and coping with grief.
CEUs provided by Kern County Department of Public Health. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider Number CEP852 for 3 contact hours.

Event Location: Founders Hall GPS will take you to the main entrance at 420 34th Street, Bakersfield, CA. Please look for the building marked “Founders Hall” on the map for the correct location. Parking Information: Free parking is available in the designated lot (see map). Do not park in front of the hospital or across the street—vehicles may be ticketed or towed.

Safe Sleep Champions

Certification to support evidence-based standards in the hospital setting.
2. Outline the steps required to implement a comprehensive safe sleep program and propose solutions to common
barriers in order to enhance patient safety and hospital compliance.
3. Demonstrate strategies for educating parents and caregivers on safe sleep practices to promote continuity of
care beyond the hospital setting.

Resource Centers, collaborative meetings, and monthly trainings. Emphasize services like housing, education,
parenting classes, and mental health referrals.
3. Promote Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Strengthen understanding of evidence-based practices such as
Differential Response and Parents As Teachers. Raise awareness about Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention,
trauma-informed care, and the importance of early intervention and reporting.

promote injury prevention and caregiver education.
2. Differentiate between forward-facing, rear-facing, and booster seats and demonstrate understanding of the
LATCH system and seat belt installation methods to guide caregivers in selecting and correctly using appropriate
restraints.
3. Locate and share appropriate community resources and evidence-based support for car seat installation to
connect families with additional safety education.
