Born from the squats and free festivals of the 1980s, psychedelic, space rock veterans <<nukli>> (pronounced Nuke-Lie) are a psych/prog three-piece band with a long history and back catalogue. Core members, Kev Hegan (guitar & vocals) and Mark Huxley (bass) have played together since the '80s and that history shows itself in the intuitive and complementary way their instruments support each other, with plenty of melodic interplay between them.
When former long time drummer, Peter Out, had to bow out due to poor health, Paul Maguire (drums) stepped in, bringing his unique energy to the band. Paul, alongside Mark, formed the rhythm section of the high energy Dogstooth band, running a parallel existence to <<nukli>> for many years. So, he was already part of the family and an obvious choice to take over from Peter. The results can be heard in the new studio album, 'Acid Funk'.
Released on August 1st 2025, 'Acid Funk' captures the band's current set, from catchy psych-pop through to full on psychedelic freakouts, the album takes you on a glorious journey.
