Title: Sacred Stones: Embedding Religious Authority in Jerusalem Bedrock
Professor Koltun-Fromm holds the Burton Pike ’52 Chair in the Humanities at Haverford College, PA (USA) and is a visiting scholar in the University of Edinburgh Divinity School this year.
She is a comparativist scholar of late ancient “Abrahamic” religions and is particularly interested in the moments and places where the various traditions rub up against each other.
Her recent publications include Hermeneutics of Holiness: Ancient Jewish and Christian Notions of Sexuality and Religious Community which traces the nexus of sexuality and holiness from the biblical texts into the fourth century rabbinic and patristic writings.
Her present research focuses on the representation of Jerusalem in early Jewish, Christian and Muslim writings.
Sponsored by the Centre for the Study of Christian Origins (CSCO) and the Edinburgh Jewish Studies Network.
