Sacred Spaces: An Interfaith Conversation on Domestic Violence
About this Event
Date: August 25, 2026
Time: 8:00am-9:30am
Location: The Nest at SafeNest
Join SafeNest for a 90-minute interactive training designed for clergy, faith leaders, ministry staff, chaplains, counselors, and community members serving within faith-based communities. This foundational Domestic Violence 101 training explores the dynamics of intimate partner violence, common barriers survivors face when seeking help, and the critical role faith communities play in promoting safety, healing, and hope.
Participants will learn how domestic violence impacts individuals and families, recognize signs of abuse, and gain practical guidance on responding to disclosures through a trauma-informed and survivor-centered lens. Special attention will be given to how faith leaders can provide compassionate support while avoiding responses that may unintentionally cause harm.
The training will conclude with a powerful panel discussion featuring:
- A SafeNest VOICES survivor will share lived experience from within a faith community
- A licensed therapist will discuss the impact of trauma and pathways to healing
- A faith leader will offer insights on supporting survivors while fostering safe and accountable faith communities
Through education, dialogue, and shared experiences, participants will strengthen their understanding of domestic violence and leave with tools and resources to respond effectively, build community partnerships, and create safer spaces for those impacted by abuse.
