A Call for Diasporic Care & Solidarity

Assata’s House invites community into an evening of cultural learning, movement, storytelling, and collective care in support of Afro-Cuban mutual aid efforts.

In partnership with P4C, this gathering is rooted in diasporic solidarity and cultural reverence. Together, we explore the connections between Black liberation, ancestral traditions, and the ways communities care for one another across borders.

Through film, movement, and collective gathering, we will create space for cultural connection, reflection, and solidarity while continuing Assata’s House’s commitment to mutual aid and community care.

What to Expect

Join us for a screening experience exploring the Afro-Cuban spiritual tradition, Regla de Ocha (also known as Santería or Lukumí), cultural memory, and the preservation of ancestral knowledge.

Experience a culturally rooted movement workshop at 8 PM led by Ama, inviting participants into embodied learning, connection, and exploration of Afro-Cuban movement traditions.

This gathering continues Assata’s House’s mutual aid efforts supporting Afro-Cuban communities through the collection of essential care supplies and resources.

Participants are invited to contribute to this ongoing effort through shared resources, relationship-building, and collective stewardship.

This gathering is rooted in a belief that care extends beyond borders.

Together, we honor the traditions, relationships, and practices that allow communities to survive and flourish. We gather not through charity, but through relationship, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
