Sacramento CERT Fall Academy 2022 (Class 2022-02)
About this Event

The Sacramento Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

This is the entry level qualification for the Sacramento Community Emergency Response Team, and involves training over a three week period, with Tuesday night and Saturday sessions.

All students must complete an application on our web site (http://sfdcert.org/contact/join-cert/) prior to registration. If you have already completed an application, you do not need to do so again.

Due to the popularity of the program and limited seating, we are seeking attendees who can confirm they will be able to attend all sessions.

The class schedule for the Sacramento CERT Level III Basic Course is as follows:

  • Session 1 - Disaster Preparedness - Tue, Aug 23, 6pm – 10pm
  • Session 2 - Disaster Medical 1/2 - Sat, Aug 27, 8am – 5pm
  • Session 3 - Team Organization/Disaster Psychology - Tue, Aug 30, 6pm – 10pm
  • Session 4 - Fire Suppression/Search and Rescue - Sat, Sep 3, 8am – 5pm
  • Session 5 - Terrorism/Review - Tue, Sep 6, 6pm – 10pm
  • Session 6 - Graduation Drill - Sat, Sep 10, 1pm – 10pm

All sessions will be held at 2409 Dean St, McClellan Park, CA 95652.

Covid-19 Precautions

This is the first class since California's reopening. We are following CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 protocols.

All Students:

  • All students must complete the COVID-19 vaccine attestation (https://forms.gle/m3LgxW5zYep2rfsR9) prior to the first day of CERT training.
  • All students must bring a box of nitrile gloves (in your size) to use when working with mannequins/live victim role players.
  • All students must use the hands-free hand sanitizer station at the check in desk every time they enter the classroom.
  • All students must follow the "in/out" door assignments (one-way foot traffic for the classroom).

Unvaccinated Students:

  • Unvaccinated students will take their own temp every morning and evening and actively monitor for signs of Covid-19.
  • Unvaccinated students will have their temp taken (ear) as they enter the classroom at the start of each day's classes by Sacramento CERT Emergency Medical Responders.
  • Unvaccinated students must bring their own face coverings (as described by the CDC) and wear those face coverings for the duration of class (with the exception of drinking/eating).

If you are unwilling or unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, you will not be able to participate in this round of training. We will have future classes that you can attend once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] and we will address your questions in the order they are received.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
