The Sacramento Historical Society and the Sacramento Public Library proudly announce plans for the creation of an inspirational sculpture commemorating the life of Sacramento’s own Joan Didion. Internationally known and nationally praised, she was recognized with numerous awards and honors for her essays and various other writings.Another local talent, sculptor Lisa Reinertson, will create a portrait of Joan in a ceramic sculpture that will hold pride of place in the Sacramento Room of the Central Library. This life-sized piece will capture Joan seated with her magical pen as she welcomes everyone into her literary world.
