SUMMER SLAY: 2 HOT TO HANDLE - Join us for our FREE multigenerational workshops & contribute by donating materials!
Leading up to our second annual Summer Slay Community fashion show, we’re hosting several FREE multigenerational workshops open to community members of ALL ages. These workshops will provide community members with opportunities to create items to wear in our fashion show and learn some new techniques to decorate and create accessories and outfits. Youth younger than 8 years old must have an older relative, parent, or guardian with them during workshop hours.
WEEK 1: Create a cape! - DIY T-shirt capes
WEEK 2: Design a wrestling belt! - DIY cardboard wrestling belts
WEEK 3: Make a paddle fan! - DIY paddle fan accessory & help us make extra for attendees of the final outdoor event.
These workshop projects are meant to be a starting point for anyone who might not know where to start with making something for the fashion show! Participants will be welcome to design outfits for our corresponding thematic lines during these times as well.
We will also have Open Studio Times on Saturdays 11AM-1PM for participants to continue working on their projects.
To make these workshops and designs happen, we’re seeking DONATIONS!
Please refer to our list on the graphic to help us out!
Please contact Teaching Artist Sheila Vasquez at (210) 709-2829 or at [email protected] with any questions about donations and drop-off! Please also reach out if you’re interested in volunteering with our workshops to help others bring their fashion visions to life OR if you’re interested in modeling in our final event on June 30th!
*Tax write-off paperwork available for donations!*
