SabreSlash 2022 is an annual event established with the aim of promoting the art of sabre fencing in its various historical forms. It is open to all historical sabre fencing stylists of all levels and will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, October 1 - 2 2022.The organizers, Barbasetti Military Sabre (since 1895) and Ars Dimicatoria Prague, are proud to announce that this year we will host a dear guest from overseas, Mr. Patrick Bratton, from Sala Della Spada, Carlisle, PA, USA, who will lead a workshop “Actions on the blade in Radaellian sabre“.
Patrick Bratton is an Instructor of Arms in classical Italian fencing from the Sonoma State University Fencing Masters Program. He is a student of Chris Holzman and Andrew Bullock, both from the Santelli lineage of fencing. Patrick specializes in Northern Italian military sabre, and Southern/Neapolitan rapier and duelling sword.
The organizers are also very proud that this year we will host a guest from Germany, Mr. Leonardo Britto Germoglio, who will lead a workshop on “Akademische Fechten”, academic fencing also known as Mensur, traditional fencing practiced by student corporations (Studentenverbindungen) in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc. Leonardo has an extensive professional experience as a fencing coach in many clubs in Germany: Corps Arminia; Corps Germania; Corps Rheno Palatia; Corps Donaria; Corps Suevia; Corps Baruthia; Corps Onoldia; Corps Makaria-Guestphalia; Corps Pomerania Silesia; Corps Rhaetia; Landsmannschaft Cheruskia; Landsmannschaft Bavaria; Landsmannschft Hansea; Burschenschaft Staufia; Burschenschaft Arminia; Burschenschaft Germania, as well as in Austria: Corps Hellas Wien.
As every year we will also have a test cutting workshop for you, but this year light sabres will be used ? as well as a very different stuff to be chopped in pieces ?

- “Akademische Fechten”, workshop led by Leonardo Britto Germoglio, Germany.
- “Molinelli in Barbasetti sabre”, workshop led by Leonid Křížek, Barbasetti Military Sabre (since 1895), Prague, Czech Republic.
- “Sciabola in Mano, controlled and conserved strength for cuts and thrusts”, workshop led by Michael Kňažko, Barbasetti Military Sabre (since 1895), Prague, Czech Republic.
- “SabreSlashing with light sabres”, test-cutting workshop ?
- “SabreSlash Moustache Challenge”. All gentlemen are encouraged to attend the event wearing a fully grown Ferdinando Masiello style moustache. The wearer of the most classical moustache will be awarded a very special prize.
- „ Zabłocki Sabre 2022“. The biggest Barbasetti sabre fencing tournament since the legendary 1895 Prague military fencing tournament organized by k.u.k lieutenant Dominik Riegel. The winner of the tournament will receive a brand new Swordsmithy practice sabre.

12:15 - 12:45 friendly sparring (10 x 3 min. exchanges with different opponents)
13:00 - 14:00 lunchbreak

“SabreSlash Moustache Challenge" winner announcement :)

-complete protective sabre fencing gear (mask, jacket, gloves, protectors), sabre
