Sababa 5 is een band uit Parijs die bekend staat om hun hypnotiserende mix van psychedelische muziek uit het Midden-Oosten, mediterrane funk en analoge groove. Hun sound combineert wervelende orgels, surfgitaren en onweerstaanbare ritmes tot een stijl die zowel nostalgisch als vooruitstrevend is – geworteld in vintage klanken, maar altijd in ontwikkeling. Na wereldwijde aandacht te hebben gekregen met de single ‘Tokyo Midnight / Nasnusa’, met de Japanse zangeres Yurika, bleef de band nieuwe wegen verkennen door middel van samenwerkingen en liveoptredens in heel Europa. Hun titelloze debuutalbum en de opvolger ‘Aspan’ verdiepten hun kenmerkende geluid: een rijke, instrumentale fusie van funk, disco en oosterse melodieën.
