Sababa 5 sound like someone tossed a cassette of Middle Eastern psych, Mediterranean funk and analog grooves into a desert wind and somehow found it again, better than before. The Paris-based band blends pulsing organs, surf-tinged guitars and warm vintage rhythms into a style that feels both timeless and fiercely forward-moving. Music that spirals, shimmers and grabs you before you even realise you’re dancing.Ever since the international buzz around Tokyo Midnight / Nasnusa: their collaboration with Japanese singer Yurika, they’ve kept pushing at the edges of their universe. European tours, new colours, unexpected collaborations; their debut and its successor Aspan solidified their signature: instrumental funk and disco infused with Eastern melodies that slice through analog tape like beams of sunlight.
In the years that followed, they widened their world with voices from across the globe: Shiran Tzfira, Inbal Nur Dekel, Yurika Hanashima, Sophia Solomon. Analog warmth meets worldwide energy.
