"Saadhana" means a dedicated and disciplined way of learning. It also represents practice, hard work, resilience, and single-mindedness—qualities that are deeply incorporated into this performance.
Saadhana serves as an expression of creative pedagogy, showcasing stories from mythology where the art of oral narrative is transformed through music and dance. This Bharatanatyam dance production, titled "Krishna: A Journey Through Divine Leela," traces the life and legacy of Lord Krishna through a vibrant tapestry of movement and storytelling.
Conceptualized as a multi-layered narrative, the production brings together dancers of varying age groups and skill levels, making it both pedagogical and performative in spirit. The presentation opens with Krishna’s birth against the dramatic backdrop of tyranny under Kamsa, followed by his miraculous journey across the Yamuna. The narrative unfolds through iconic episodes of his childhood, including the slaying of Putana and his playful life as the beloved Makhan Chor. As the production progresses, it explores Krishna’s role as protector through sequences like Kaliya Mardanam and Govardhana Giridhari. The emotional spectrum deepens with the Raas Leela and his tender bond with Yashoda, eventually transitioning into his pivotal roles in the Mahabharata. The production culminates in the profound stillness of the Geetopadesham and his final journey to Vaikuntha. Blending Carnatic and Hindustani musical traditions, the production celebrates Krishna as an eternal symbol of love, dharma, and cosmic balance.
