About this Event

What is SA Ready to Work?


This one-of-a-kind program connects San Antonians to education and quality jobs – and, ultimately, well-paid careers that can sustain their families.


We’ll be with you every step of the way. Your personal Ready to Work coach will:


  • Get to know you and understand your specific situation
  • Provide guidance and resources throughout the process
  • Guide you through career and education exploration and planning
  • Help you enroll in approved courses
  • Connect you with tuition assistance and funds for urgent needs
  • Help you secure and retain a well-paid job

Who is eligible for SA Ready to Work?

  • San Antonio resident
  • 18 years or older when applying for the program
  • Permitted to work in the US
  • Annual household income is less than 250% of the federal poverty guidelines »
  • Willing to take assessments related to barriers, academics, skills aptitude, and workplace readiness
  • Committed to completing the program
  • Not currently enrolled in college

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Proof of Age (select one): U.S. birth certificate, U.S. citizen ID card, lawful resident citizen ID card, Driver's License
  • Proof of San Antonio residency (select one): an unexpired driver’s license or state ID; a recent utility bill, a current lease, a mortgage statement, or proof of residency from homeless shelter
  • Proof of Authorization to Work (select one): Social Security card (signed), U.S. birth certificate, U.S. citizen ID card, lawful resident citizen ID card, Native American tribal documentation, or other documentation accepted by USCIS Form I-9 for employment authorization (such as Employment Authorization Document, also known as an I-766 Form)
  • Proof of household income (for all adults in the household): last 30 days of paystubs, unemployment benefits, SSI payments, and recent evidence of receipt of the following benefits: San Antonio Housing Authority Voucher Program; Public Housing; SNAP; TANF; WIOA; WIC; or Medicaid
