About this Event

South Australia Multicultural Connections (SAMC) warmly invites you and your guest to join our dinner function to be held on 25 February 2023 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Riverbanks Rooms between 6.30 for 7 pm to 10 pm.

South Australia Multicultural Connections (SAMC) was formed in December 2022 to be a not-for-profit organisation.

South Australia Multicultural Connections (SAMC) has the following vision:

• Promoting Australian values and respect cultural diversity;

• Encouraging the multicultural residents to integrate and embrace Australian values and an Australian way of life;

• Enhancing community harmony;

• Sharing our cultural diversity through storytelling and laughter;

• Introducing our SA Political Members to multicultural communities;

• Learning about their passions how they represent their Constituents;

• South Australia Multicultural Connections (SAMC) remains neutral and non-political

South Australia Multicultural Connections (SAMC) "S.A Galaxy Night" dinner invitation has been extended to SA Parliament House of Assembly Members and Members of the Legislative Council.

The same invitation has also been extended to various Multicultural Associations and Corporate entities in South Australia.

Our Patrons are former Member of SA Parliament and MLC namely:

* Dr Bernice EU (Pftizner) former Liberal MLC served between 1990 – 1997, South Australia. Dr. Bernice Eu (Pfitzner) was a Medical Practitioner, a Member of the Legislative Council of South Australia and an Author. She was born in Singapore, graduated from the University of Adelaide, and obtained a post- graduation MD. Thesis on Child Development. She has always sort to be involved with people of Multicultural background, and was a founding member of a current group known as' Women of Diverse Cultural Background'.

* Mr Joe Scalzi former Liberal Member of Parliament between 1993 – 2006, South Australia. Joe Scalzi was a high school teacher before entering parliament. In 1993, he was elected amidst the Liberal landslide victory that year, which saw Dean Brown become Premier. At the 2002 election, Scalzi had to defend the most marginal Liberal seat in the state, but managed to increase his margin to 1.3 percent. After politics Joe went back to teaching and taught at Glenunga International, Windsor Gardens and Valley View Secondary. He took a special interest in students at risk and participated in Operation Flinders and managed teams in Ice Factor Ice Skating program. He has continued to be a member of Education Union and contributed at Branch Council. He has continued his interest in the community with involvement in the Liberal Party and on the board of Coasit. He enjoys reading, gardening and writing Poetry. Joe has served as Justice of Peace for over 20 years and has just been reappointed as JP for the next 10 years from 2022.

Mr John Darley former MLC served between 2007 – 2022, South Australia. Mr John Darley, former MLC 2007 – 2022, South Australia. John Darley was CEO of 3 government departments before his retirement in 1993 after 39 years having served as Valuer-General and CEO of 3 Government Departments and Commissioner of Charitable Funds for 20 years John Darley was appointed to the South Australian Legislative Council in November 2007. John was elected for a second term in March 2014. Defeated at the March election in March 2022. Since leaving Parliament John have continued pursuing the following issues which he introduced into Parliament Child protection legislation. Proposed regulation of the use of restricted practices legislation in Aged Care Facilities. Proposed bushfire reporting. Assisting owners whose properties have been compulsorily acquired by the Government for projects such as the South Road upgrading compensation matters. Assisting owners who have rating issues in respect of Council and SA Government rates and taxes.
