Benannt nach einem isländischen Ausdruck für eine unwirkliche Landschaft, zeichnet das Berliner Postmetal-Trio rein instrumental und auf eindrucksvolle Weise die Atmosphäre erkalteter, archaischer Vulkankrater nach. Rýr bauen architektonisch an ihren schweren Klanggewölben, mit Atempausen und herabrollenden Granitgitarrenmassiven, die eine Klanggewalt mit ambienter Feinheit und Abwechslungsreichtum zu beschwören weiß.

Die Songs sind alle zwischen 8 und 10 Minuten lang und bieten daher auch innerhalb der Stücke große und spannende Variationen. We are from Wiesbaden (Germany) and play a flavour of Doom, Sludge and Post-Blackmetal. Named after one of the most barren places on earth, a huge dry valley in Antarctica, warmth and comfort are none of our strength. Instead we create massive walls of sound which we unleash on the listeners. Our trademark are really long songs, ranging from cultivated boredom to heavy riffs
