TWERK UNTAMED is a dance class that invites you to express your wildness, humor and sensuality by moving your pelvic area. The techniques are inspired from twerking and Jamaican Dancehall, and this class focuses on the freedom, fun and connection that happens, when we shake our bodies together. It’s a great way to kick off your weekend with sweat and energy! This class is for you no matter your age, gender, size of your butt.
No experience is required !
TWERK UNTAMED is a non-sexual and playful space with no mirrors, no choreography and we practice for the sake of feeling and not for the sake of performing. The steps and techniques are simple, easy and meant to support your unique expression.
We start with a guided arrival, connecting you to your senses and waking up your animal body.
We then dive into the techniques of shaking butt, circling hips and shooting pelvis backward and forward with power and energy. From here, we add hand gestures and steps to engage our full body expression.
We end with an open dance floor where you'll be guided to alternate between dancing free and practicing the steps.
You can look forward to dancing to roots music and Jamaican dancehall beats!
WHAT TO BRING:
Leave your tight Yoga pants at home, and bring clothes that sit loose on your body so you have the freedom to move, sweat and shake!
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Amalie Marcuslund Overbye is a Danish/Korean professional dancer and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She practices a wide range of dance styles varying from contemporary floorwork to Jamaican Dancehall. With a special focus and warm heart for somatics and the felt experience, she welcomes all curious souls to taste a liberating and UNTAMED version of Twerking.
