Ryde to Shanklin walk

After my recent walk around the Isle of Wight Coastal Paths, and the interest it created with people wanting to do something similar, Debbie and Richard from Sherlocks Bar are going to walk from Ryde to Shanklin on this date. The route is 15 miles in total and we will be walking with the sea just to our left all the way.
There are a couple of ‘bail out’ points on the way including Brading (at around 8 miles) and Sandown (at around 13 miles) which both have train stations to take you back to Ryde.
The whole route should take around 5-6 hours with several refreshing stops on the route for food or drink. When we arrive at Shanklin, we will celebrate with a drink (or two) and then jump on the train back to Ryde and back to Portsmouth.
It will be a fun walk with fantastic views and good walking terrain. You will need good suitable footwear.
