Ryan Kowal's Extended Sizing / Le Prestige

Ryan Kowal's Extended Sizing brings together 10 musicians to form a supergroup the likes of which Rhode Island has never seen! Lead by drummer/percussionist, Ryan Kowal, Extended Sizing will explore a wide variety of styles (spiritual jazz, Caribbean, pop, even bluegrass!) through a group featuring three saxophones, french horn, flute, vibraphone, electric guitar, slide guitar, bass, and drumset. Ryan has been a fixture in the creative music scene in Rhode Island for years and has assembled a cream of the crop group to perform his compositions.
Le Prestige is a 9-piece instrumental and improvisational music group based in Somerville and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their original songs are primarily influenced by the spirit of 60’s soul jazz and the big beats and loops of 90’s hip-hop and electronica. Taking an organic and low-tech approach to these sounds, the tunes feature horn-driven melodies and expressive soloing over funk, jazz, reggae and disco grooves. Live sets are peppered with select covers such as “Wichita Lineman” and the “Theme from S.W.A.T”.
The band consists of bandleader and composer Chris Forkey on upright bass, John Glenshaw on drums, Gary Wallen on vibraphone, Michael McLaughlin on accordion, Scott Getchell on trumpets and flugelhorn, Kit Buckley on tenor sax, Charles Murrell on alto sax and flute, and Dana Colley (Morph*ne) on baritone and tenor saxes.
