Britská legenda Ruts DC (dříve The Ruts) míří do Prahy. 12. května vystoupí v Rock Café kapela, která patří k nejvýraznějším jménům britské punkové scény konce 70. let a která od začátku propojovala energii punku s vlivy reggae a dubu.
The Ruts vznikli v roce 1977 v západním Londýně. Sestavu tvořili zpěvák Malcolm Owen, kytarista Paul Fox, baskytarista John „Segs“ Jennings a bubeník Dave Ruffy. Brzy na sebe upozornili singlem „In a Rut“ a podporou legendárního DJ Johna Peela na BBC Radio 1. Skutečný průlom přišel v roce 1979 s albem The Crack a hitem „Babylon’s Burning“, který se dostal do britské Top 10. Kapela si rychle vybudovala reputaci díky silným singlům jako „Something That I Said“, „Staring at the Rude Boys“ nebo „Jah War“.
V roce 1980 však tragicky zemřel frontman Malcolm Owen. Zbývající členové se rozhodli pokračovat pod názvem Ruts DC („da capo“ – od začátku) a ve své hudbě se ještě více ponořili do reggae a dubu, například na albech Animal Now (1981) nebo Rhythm Collision Vol. 1 s producentem Mad Professorem.
Po znovusjednocení v roce 2007 kapela znovu koncertuje po celém světě a stále připomíná, proč patří mezi nejvlivnější jména britského punku.
Jako support vystoupí Arrogant Twins, kteří zároveň oslaví 10 let na scéně!

Legendary British band Ruts DC (formerly The Ruts) are coming to Prague. On May 12 they will perform at Rock Café, bringing one of the most distinctive sounds of the late-1970s UK punk scene.
The Ruts formed in West London in 1977, featuring Malcolm Owen (vocals), Paul Fox (guitar), John “Segs” Jennings (bass) and Dave Ruffy (drums). Their unique mix of punk energy with reggae influences quickly gained attention, helped by BBC Radio 1’s legendary DJ John Peel. Their breakthrough came in 1979 with the album The Crack and the hit single “Babylon’s Burning”, which reached the UK Top 10. Other standout singles included “Something That I Said”, “Staring at the Rude Boys” and “Jah War”.
After the tragic death of Malcolm Owen in 1980, the remaining members continued under the name Ruts DC (“da capo” – from the beginning). Their sound evolved further towards reggae and dub, heard on albums such as Animal Now (1981) and the collaboration Rhythm Collision Vol. 1 with Mad Professor.
Since reuniting in 2007, the band has returned to stages around the world, keeping the legacy of one of the most influential UK punk bands alive.
