ARTIST DETAILS:
Built around the engine of Cookie and Ayden’s big bodied acoustic and double bass, Lee’s clawhammer banjo, and the fantastic fiddle of Aimee the ‘Bluegrass Barbie’, Rusty Pickups deliver their own brand of bluegrass/country/americana with a familiarity that makes the first show feel like the fifth, and the fans feel like family.
Hunkered round an old time mic, Rusty Pickups have found a formula that delights punters in tiny theatres in rural towns to full production stages at festivals like the Gympie Muster, Legends of Country and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The all-strings & all-acoustic model (and their determination to be the last at every campfire jam) have left them with no shortage of musical friends and collaborators, with the debut album “I Don’t Think About You At All… Somedays” featuring collaborations with Goldheist, Brooke Taylor, and guest fiddle from 5 time Golden Guitar Winner Pete Denahy on ‘California Widow’, which debuted at #8 on the AMRAP Regional Charts, climbing as high as #5 in the following weeks.
Having shared festival stages with country royalty like Kasey Chambers and Troy Cassar-Daley, and tour supports with Alt Country & Indie legends like Darren Hanlon, Linc Phelps and Jen Mize, Rusty Pickups are ready to leave a bigger footprint in 2027 with a debut album in the bag, a follow up EP in the works, a rash of live shows, and their second and third international tour on the books.
