Join leading local historians for a fascinating evening of short talks and films, celebrating the stories of our people and places.
With Simon Aeppli introducing the new Aldershot Music Heritage Trails, and special guest, Jackie Smith - the first female Red Devil, this celebration evening is sure to be fascinating insight into the people, sights and sounds of our borough over the last fifty years!
Introducing the evening’s speakers…
• Paul Vickers has had a lifelong interest in military history, was a founder member of the Friends of the Aldershot Military Museum and is currently their Chairman. Paul has written six books on various aspects of Aldershot history, along with numerous magazine articles.
• Jo Gosney, a resident of Farnborough, has been researching and writing books on the History of Farnborough for over 30 years. Her extensive local knowledge comes from coupling detailed research with personal interviews with local people. Jo also gives presentations to clubs and organisations.
• Graham Rood, an aviation scientist & historian, spent most of his working life at the RAE at Farnborough and is now the Curator and a Trustee of FAST where the records of 100 years of aviation history at Farnborough are cared for and made available to the public.
• Glenn Christodoulou is a writer, educationist and historian who has been collecting Aldershot-iana since his teenage years. Through his mother his family have been in Aldershot since at least the 1590s. Aldershot is in his blood.
• Keith Bean Local Aldershot history fan and author. Keith is fascinated by Aldershot’s rich history, from a provincial small town in the 1850’s to the home of the British army
