Rural Health International Place-based Education and Research Conference

This conference is hosted by the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network’s (RMCLHN) Riverland Academy of Clinical Excellence (RACE) and will be held in Murray Bridge, South Australia, from Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 October 2025.

The conference theme is Place matters: Transforming education and research to strengthen rural and remote healthcare. A place-based approach to improving healthcare access and outcomes through locally driven education and research.

Day one of the conference will be an opportunity to network and attend local experiences in the region, followed by canapés in the evening.

Day two of the conference will include research presentations and a plenary session with guest speaker Professor Sonia Kumar, Founding Executive Dean of Medicine at St Mary’s University London. A conference dinner will be held in the evening.

Day three of the conference will be a policy workshop with Professor Jenny May AM, National Rural Health Commissioner, and the Hon. Fiona Nash, Regional Education Commissioner.

Costs

Attendees may register for either the full three-day conference or for two days (Thursday 30 and Friday 31), which include the research presentations, policy workshop, and conference dinner. Virtual tickets are also available for online participation for two days (Thursday 30 and Friday 31)

Ticket options and pricing are as follows:

• Students/Interns/Volunteers/ Members of Not-For-Profit and Community Organisations: $350 (three days) or $300 (two days)
• General Admission: $550 (full conference) or $400 (two days)
• Virtual Ticket: $120 (two days)

All prices are in AUD, includes GST and excludes Eventbrite service fees.

Wednesday 29 October - Networking

• 1.30pm - 5.00pm: Paddleboat cruise including a cultural experience on-board (TBC)
• 6.00pm - 8.00pm: Registration and canapés at the Bridgeport Hotel

Thursday 30 October - Place-based research, education and policy

• 8.00am - 8.30am: Registrations open
• 8.30am - 5.00pm: Presentations
• 6.30pm - 11.00pm: Conference dinner at the Bridgeport Hotel

Friday 31 October - Policy workshop

• 8.00am - 8.30am: Registrations open
• 8.30am - 2.30pm: Policy workshop

Catering

Catering will be supplied for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on conference day. Alcoholic beverages are not provided as per SA Health policy requirements.
