Run Black & Grow

Join us in Metcalfe Park on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM for a food justice community walk/run. We will gather at the former parking lot of Pick 'N Save to reflect on a year since the grocery store closure. From the parking lot, we will move in solidarity to Metcalfe Park's Black Joy Farm for a gardening workshop and collective action.

All ages are welcome to attend. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Info: The first 30 minutes we'll allow people to get settled into the space and check-in. This will also be a time for introductions so we can get to know each other, learn more about Run Black & Green and Metcalfe Park Community Bridges.

Info: As a group we'll link arms and make verbal commitments to advance food justice and end food apartheid in Milwaukee as a collective.

Info: We'll move together (walk, run, or van transport for those who aren't physically able) to the Black Joy Farm which is about 1 mile away from the former Pick 'N Save parking lot.

Info: Gather at the Black Joy Farm for food and a gardening workshop led by a local community farmer with demonstration and resources on how to grow your own food at home.
