Join Canterbury Ice Hockey Association for an introductory officiating classroom session, designed for anyone aged 13 years and over who is interested in learning more about refereeing, linesperson duties, and the rules of ice hockey.
Join us for an interactive classroom session covering the rules of the game and the fundamentals of officiating. Whether you're a player, parent, coach, volunteer, someone interested in becoming an official, or an existing official looking to refresh your knowledge, this session is a great opportunity to build your understanding of the game and grow your confidence.

🕥 Time: 10:30am–2:30pm *(light snacks provided)*
📍 Location: Bealey Quarter Function Room, 263 Bealey Avenue, Christchurch
During the session you'll learn about:
🏒 The roles of referees and linespeople
📖 Ice hockey rules and interpretations
📍 Positioning and game management
🤝 Communication and teamwork on the ice
➡️ Pathways to becoming a CIHA official
This is a classroom-based session only. Optional on-ice training sessions will be offered at a later date for those who would like to take the next step towards becoming a CIHA official, or for current officials wanting to further develop and refine their on-ice skills.
Attendance is free, but registration is essential!
