Blending searing, emotive vocals with a psychedelia-steeped sonic palette, Ruby crafts a tempestuous and hauntingly beautiful sound that is uniquely her own. Bad Ideas is a darkly euphoric exploration of repression and release. At its core, the song wrestles with Catholic guilt, shame, and the urge to bury oneβs worst impulses deep inside. Although it grapples with heavy subject matter, the track is intentionally upbeat, urgent, and danceable. Drawing on influences as diverse as Patti Smith, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and 70βs horror flicks, she crafts a compelling sound that veers between raucous rock βnβ roll freak outs and more alluring, melodic turns.
