Improvisation: A Poem
by Josie Roth
Its a dance… a collaboration
Off the cuff?…not really…
A conversation — with the moment
The art of being IN the moment
Listening…
Responding…(if you please)
Stepping out of a pre-planned agenda
Questioning a belief system
The role of listening and responding to what is happening in the present moment? Resolve,
Dissolve.
The suspension of the ego - in disbelief, for the sake of creative collaboration.
What role does the body play in sonic expression?
In life we go on day after day. One day blends into the next. When changes occur it can be,
literally, unsettling….
unless we are flexible and can quickly respond to a new situation we perish or at best become
inconsequential and irrelevant. As humans we are, at our best, adaptable creatures. Those
most adaptable to changing environments have the best chance of survival.
We see change and the unexpected as a chance for new beginnings, creation and growth.
