Columbus, join GLAAWC virtually, with local authors Colette R. Harrell, Alicia Wiggins, Sandee Hemphill, and DL Augustine in attendance as your hosts on Saturday, September 27th, from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Columbus Metropolitan Library – MLK Branch, 1467 E. Long St., for a powerful day celebrating the culmination of Black heritage and contemporary trends in literature. This unique experience offers the best of both worlds—virtual access and in-person author presence—with opportunities to connect, learn, and be inspired.
? What to Expect:
- Bestselling Authors: Meet award-winning African American authors sharing their journeys and books that have shaped the literary scene. Our 8th celebration of GLAAWC welcomes nationally renowned author, Diane McKinney Whetstone, introducing her new novel “Family Spirit,” as well as publishing industry expert, Kim M. Sadler as keynote speakers.
- Panel Discussions: Experience rich and thought-provoking conversations with industry panelists, particularly, in celebrating Black resilience and triumphant stories of overcoming adversity.
- Writing Workshops: Get equipped with practical tools to grow your writing career by homing in on the Urban Literature sector and learning how to develop in this niche.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with passionate readers, new authors, and established writers—grow your community!
- Heritage and Inspiration: Celebrate a legacy of creativity with Black writers, poets, and storytellers who have paved the way as well as those who have received the torch that has since been passed.
Admission is FREE; however, you can grab a copy of the award-winning author and Langston Hughes Literary Keynote speaker, Dianne McKinney Whetstone‘s new book, “Family Spirit,” by purchasing a bundled ticket! Have the author sign your copy at the conference. Please note, $6 of each book sale will go toward the production and continuation of GLAAWC.
