I am running the London Marathon. yes! and I will cross that line this year! Unfortunately due to an injury I had to pull out of this year's run but my charity place rolls over to next year so it's time to start fundraising and raising awareness for the amazing charity that is RSBC!
I want to tell you about my incredible sister, Alice. She’s 16. At just 11, Alice had her first craniotomy to remove a benign brain tumour, which left her with a visual impairment. Then, as if one major brain surgery wasn’t enough, she had a second one at 13 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because, you know, why not add a global crisis into the mix? Through all this, Alice has shown more strength, resilience, and grace than anyone I know—and she still hasn’t complained once. Not even about my bad jokes.
Alice has this way of turning challenges into opportunities to help others. Years ago, she started collecting tea sets from charity shops (we’re talking shelves of teacups) and decided to put them to good use by organising a coffee morning for Children in Need. And it didn’t stop there. She’s raised money for WaterAid, Asthma UK, and Bliss, helped put together a charity concert for Target Ovarian Cancer, and supported Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Her efforts have raised over £2,000 so far, and she still finds time to call me out for not cleaning up my room.
So, here’s the deal: I’m running the London Marathon (yes, 26.2 miles—pray for me) to raise money for the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC). This amazing organisation has been a game-changer for Alice. RSBC has given her friends who relate to her experiences, along with opportunities to attend events and build skills and confidence. It’s like a secret society of awesome kids, minus the secret handshakes (as far as I know).
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page and helping me raise money for the Royal Society for Blind Children. I believe no child in the UK should grow up poor or lonely just because they are blind. But here’s the reality: 90% of young people who lose their sight won’t work for more than six months in their lives, and many may never have someone to share their life with.
By donating today, you can help change that and make sure every single blind child has the self-belief, friends, and skills to fulfill the incredible potential we know they’ve got.
So, whether you donate the cost of a fancy coffee or the price of a new teacup (Alice would approve), every bit helps. Thanks for your support and for joining me on this journey—for Alice, for RSBC, and for the hope that I’ll cross that finish line.
We are working on our fundraising ideas so keep an eye out for concerts, coffee mornings and quizzes to help me raise over £2000 for this amazing charity!!
please continue using this link until.i recieve my official one. any donations here go to the charity and will be counted as offline donations on my official enthuse account once it's creates in the coming months!!!
