The festival runs from 10 a.m until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Classic Rink, located at 41 Riley Street in the Village of East Aurora. The Classic Rink is an open air roofed venue that provides protection from elements and ensures a comfortable experience for attendees that includes ample parking.
With the festival centrally located in the village, patrons can park once and take advantage of everything East Aurora has to offer, including Main Street shops and restaurants.
Visitors to the Festival will experience fine art in wood, metal, fabric, jewelry, clay, glass, book arts, prints, drawing, painting, and photography. The work is created by fine artists and craftspeople, many of whom have gone through a rigorous jurying process. Roycrofters at Large Artisans have earned the right to use the “double R” mark of the Roycroft Renaissance and represent the very strongest in quality workmanship and design.
In addition to over 30 Juried Roycroft Artisans and Masters, this year’s festival also includes a variety of non-juried artists and Roycroft Emerging Artists fellows, totaling nearly 60 booths including non-profit community partners. The Emerging Artists program provides opportunities for rising local artists who exhibit a quality of work in keeping with the Roycroft standards in their chosen mediums and advances RALA’s express mission to serve as an organization to further the revitalization and evolution of the Arts & Crafts Movement, in both craft and fine art.
Raffle tickets for the 2024 “Goodie Box” will also be available. The annual Goodie Box is a RALA tradition for over 20 years, and is the backbone of its non-profit fund-raising initiatives. The centerpiece of this year’s box is a Copper Jewelry Box by Master Metalsmith Ronald VanOstrand. The design features chased ginkgos and a tooled leather interior designed by new Roycroft Artisan in Leather Tom Ciminelli. Together with this piece, the 2024 Goodie Box contains additional items created by Roycroft Artisans and Master Artisans valued at over $8,000 and will be revealed at the Summer Festival on June 29. Tickets are sold throughout the year with a final drawing in February 2025 at the 38th National Arts and Crafts Conference, at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. The winner need not be present.
Mead samples by Bee Spit Meadery and our friends at Blue Eyed Baker will provide refreshment, sweets and savories from kiosk inside the festival and fulfilling and delivering lunches while guests browse fine art and high craft from their new location directly across the street!
Commemorative Festival posters and memberships will be available at the event. These items, plus the festival $5.00 public admission charge, funds our non-profit initiatives for the year. Tickets and festival posters may be pre-purchased for ease of entry at www.ralaweb.com. Children and RALA Friends and Patron members enter free.
This weekend also marks an unofficial festival of arts weekend for East Aurora; the Historic Roycroft Campus will host its Campus Arts & Antiques Show on South Grove Street and the East Aurora Art Society will host their annual show at the East Aurora Middle School.
