John Luther Adams: Vespers of the Blessed Earth
Join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Brighton Festival Chorus for an evening of music and poetry that explores nature, climate change, and humanity’s relationship with the earth.
At its heart is Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman’s new concerto for violin, narrator, and orchestra, featuring poetry by Nick Drake. This powerful work is framed by Sibelius’s orchestral hymn to the Finnish forests and American eco-activist composer John Luther Adams’ powerful work Vespers of the Blessed Earth - a homage to Mother Earth and her endangered species.
Led by Grammy Award-winning maestro Ludovic Morlot, this nature-themed programme weaves together symphonic grandeur and cinematic beauty, creating an extraordinary and immersive concert experience.
