ROUNDABOUT with Not Sew New and Unassigned Gallery

Hey Friends!

Join Not Sew New and Unassigned Gallery on July 15th for our first edition of "Roundabout" a series of up-cycling workshops focussed on bringing life back to our old and forgotten about clothes and, saving them from landfill, and learning basic sewing skills to be able to continue doing this beyond our workshops.

All sewing materials and fabrics will be provided by us, so all you need to bring is an old top/tshirt/singlet/jumper that you want to up-cycle. We'll be using recycled scrap fabrics to embellish our tops with letters, patterns, lace, ribbons, and more. By the end of this workshop you will have a completely "new" and up-cycled shirt to take home.

Not Sew New is a brand that upcycles pre-existing materials and clothing to bring them new life. Our mission is to provide a platform for people to shop sustainably and to create products that become a staple rotation and last forever. The process of sourcing, designing, and creating products is non-linear, making it impossible to mass-produce any of our products. Not Sew New aims to reach individuals who appreciate the little differences that make us who we are.

At its core, Not Sew New seeks to transform the future of fashion by encouraging individuals to express themselves authentically through their clothing and accessories. Each item is crafted with a strong sense of purpose, promoting a deep connection between the wearer and the product. ABOUT UNASSIGNED GALLERY

Established in 2022, Unassigned Gallery is an artist-run space that seeks to platform new and unseen talent in Melbourne’s vibrant arts scene.

Unassigned Gallery is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where people from all walks of life can feel comfortable and safe to engage with art.

We are lucky to be part of an inspiring creative community, and we aim to give back as much as we can. Unassigned Gallery was born out of a desire to give a platform to artists ‘on the outside’, and to amplify all voices, as so often the art world can feel impenetrable. Driving all our workshops, classes and exhibitions is an aim to keep independent art accessible, educational, and inspiring for all.
