Our guest speaker is Past District Governor Bill Palko (Houston Rotary District 5890
Bill is a native Houstonian. He served as an Infantry Sergeant in the US Army from 1973-1977 and is a Vietnam Era Veteran. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Bill earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from San Jacinto Junior College North Campus. He then earned his BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston Central Campus.
Bill was a Houston banker for 39 years. After over 22 years with Amegy Bank as a Senior Vice President, Bill retired on December 31st, 2019.
Bill is active in his local community. He serves as a Board Member for the Wendel D. Ley Y, Bay Area Homeless Services and the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce. Bill chaired the Y board in 2003-2004 and has twice been named its Volunteer of the Year. Bill and Debbie are Y Heritage Club members. In 2014 he was named Board Member of the Year by the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2016 & 2020 the Chamber awarded Bill its Dr. Ed Lehr Chairman’s Award for dedicated service to the Chamber. In 2019 the Chamber named Bill their Committee Member of the Year.
Bill has been a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of North Shore since June 2005. He is Past Club President 2010-11 and was Rotarian of the Year for the club in 2011-12 and 2019-20. Bill was an Assistant District Governor for the years 2013-2015. He was awarded Assistant Governor of the Year in 2013-14. Bill was District Governor in 2017-18. Bill and Debbie are Major Donors, Bequest Society, Paul Harris Society and White Hat Society members.
Bill has been married to the love of his life Debbie for 42 years. They have two wonderful children, Steven and Michelle and two great step-grandchildren Kodi and Jordyn.
