About this Event
ABOUT MASAKI KOIKE
Masaki Koike is a visual communicator who thrives on finding unique solutions to individual design challenges. He specializes in a wide range of design projects, from movie posters to logos and intricate package designs. He intentionally avoids sticking to a single style or industry to maintain a well-rounded, multidisciplinary approach to design.
His design philosophy is rooted in a combination of curiosity, intuition, experience, and skill. These principles guide his work at Phyx Design, allowing him to produce creative and effective design solutions.
Notably, his work on projects such as Woodstock and What it is! boxed sets have earned him Grammy Awards for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. He has also received multiple Grammy nominations for projects like Black Sabbath - The Dio Years, Phish - The Clifford Ball, The Smith Tapes, and Grateful Dead - Get Shown the Light.
Furthermore, Masaki Koike was chosen by the City of Los Angeles to design a citywide campaign against hate crimes called "LA for ALL," showcasing his involvement in meaningful community projects.
As a native Angeleno, he currently resides in Pasadena, California. He has a background in teaching Design Fundamentals and Typography at UCLA Extensions DCA program for over a decade. In addition to his design work, he's a self-proclaimed cinephile and a dedicated yoga practitioner.
