About this Event

ABOUT HANNAH BURSTEIN

Hannah Burstein is a curator, researcher, and public programmer who was born, raised, and is based in Los Angeles. She is the curatorial associate at The Brick, a nonprofit contemporary exhibition space where she has worked since 2019, contributing to exhibitions including MONUMENTS, for which she served as co-editor of the accompanying publication; Life on Earth: Art & Eco Feminism; and Nancy Buchanan: A Retrospective. While at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland (2014-18), she co-curated performance pieces by artists including Hosey Corona, Ada Pinkston, Paul Rucker, Alexander D'Agostino, and Laure Drogoul, among others. Her interests include contemporary interventions with historical objects, constructions of race in public space, alternatives to traditional museum interpretation, and horror.


ABOUT PAULA KROLL

Paula Kroll is an Assistant Curator at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) where she has organized numerous exhibitions. She is the curator of Haegue Yang: Star-Crossed Rendezvous, presented in collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and is part of the curatorial team for MONUMENTS (2025), co-organized with The Brick. She was co-curator of Paul Pfeiffer: Prologue to the Story of the Birth of Freedom (2023), a retrospective of twenty-five years of Pfeiffer’s practice which traveled to the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao (2024) and Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (2025). Kroll graduated from the master’s program in Modern and Contemporary Art: Critical and Curatorial Studies at Columbia University with a thesis focused on contemporary art from Central and Eastern Europe.

The USC Roski School’s Roski Talks lecture series offers engaging weekly presentations from leading visual artists, design innovators, scholars, performance artists, architects, and other influential figures throughout the academic year. These events are a popular among the Roski community and frequently attract members of the public.

Held in an intimate setting, Roski Talks encourage audience participation and open dialogue. Each session concludes with lively group discussions and Q&A opportunities.
