ROSE HAZE
Rose Haze is the musical project of Kate Ramsey, a mercurial songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a penchant for analog synths. Ramsey emits an ethereal feminine prowess and powerful panache. Her unabashedly vulnerable vocals explore the depths of the human experience and float alongside her moody, psychedelic, sonic expressions that are complemented by guitarist Ruben Gonzales' deep drone, textural, wall of sound guitar tones. Based in Oakland, CA, Rose Haze is described as “otherworldly in a spaced out way” (Glide), “saturated with lush synth pads” (Petal Motel), and “dramatic, majestic rock” (The Stranger).

FAKE YOUR OWN DEATH
Dark wave post-punk.
You don’t have to actually die to start over, but you might have to pretend to. Fake Your Own Death was born out of studio apartment located above a bar in Berlin where Terry Ashkinos was studying the fall of the Soviet Union and eating pretzels. A handful of songs soon became a collaboration between Terry, drummer Scott Eberhardt, bass and synth player Adrian McCullough, and guitar and synth player Shane Ryan.
The new EP, Bad Gods, was produced by Nyles Lannon (from the band Film School) and Sean Beresford who FYOD recorded their debut with. It is a four-song collection to follow up to 2021’s Spit which was recorded with various band members while in isolation while in COVID 19 quarantine. The songs on Bad Gods are the awakening after the collapse; they are inspired by the unclassifiable and fuck you spirit of the 90’s and the avant-garde style and literary sophistication of the 80’s. The songs are a combination of loathing, longing and reverb. Tight beats and sharp guitars compliment a bass heavy vibe that is post punk at its finest. Alluring stories about misfits, escape and the collapse of meaning create a patchwork of uneasiness, overabundance of ego and romantic nostalgia in Digital and Want, while the title track, Bad Gods, is a song about existential dread. The song calls out the liars and nefarious players who meet in secret to create distraction and disinformation while they bully and plunder in order to keep cashing their checks. And Bottles and Bottles is a song about self-medicating in order to fit into society.
