About this Event
In a unique blend of cinema and conversation, Right Here in My Pocket invites the public to an evening of emotional storytelling and meaningful intergenerational connection with a special screening of Forever Spring, a documentary exploring family, identity, and healing across generations.
This live screening event will be followed by a facilitated experience using the acclaimed “Parents Are Human” bilingual conversation card game—designed to deepen communication between loved ones, especially in immigrant and multicultural families.
Additionally, there will be a special conversation with a UCLA neuroscientist and the Director of the Cognition, Affect, and Neurodevelopment in Youth Lab. Dr. Tiffany C. Ho’s research focuses specifically on how experiences and perceptions of stress play a role in shaping adolescent brain development, and how these changes contribute to the risk of depression and other related conditions.
About the Film
Forever Spring - Trường Xuân- Synopsis: Two women traveled in utero aboard a sinking ship fleeing Vietnam during the Fall of Saigon in 1975. One was born at sea, the other in a refugee camp weeks later. Decades later, they are just beginning to uncover the profound impact of their origins.
Forever Spring provides a compelling exploration of the psychological impacts of war trauma with critical questions about the effects of trauma on unborn children and the lasting imprint such experiences may leave on subsequent generations. This documentary offers both personal narratives and broader reflections on trauma and resilience.
