Synopsis
Rosa Chumbe is a policewoman living in Lima whose difficult routine is disrupted when her teenage daughter leaves home, abandoning her baby in Rosa’s care. Forced into a role she never expected to take on, Rosa begins a painful journey through loneliness, responsibility and faith. Set against the everyday chaos and spiritual intensity of contemporary Lima, Rosa Chumbe is a moving portrait of a woman searching for strength and the possibility of starting over.
Directed by Jonatan Relayze and starring Liliana Trujillo, Rosa Chumbe won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2015 Montreal World Film Festival and Best Peruvian Film at the Lima Film Festival. The film was also selected as Peru’s submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
