Westerly is a Bay Area band built around songwriter Sterling Spence, playing Americana with the muscle of a rock band and the plain speech of a folk record. Spence names Bruce Springsteen as the biggest influence on the band's writing, and it shows in the way these songs build rather than simply arrive.

Since 2015 they have worked the rooms that actually matter around here, Bottom of the Hill, The Chapel, Brick and Mortar and the Stork Club in Oakland, with Scott Wilson on lead guitar and a catalog running from the EP Rags and Ribbons through Fire in the Evergreens. One set, close quarters, which is how these songs land best.
