Little Chamber Music presents "Roots from the East": a celebration of Arabic music and culture. Join Bero Saker (vocals, oud), Karam Sahyoon (piano), and Sally Zori (doumbek) as the trio explores the timeless Arab classics they grew up listening to, with songs by Fairuz, Umm Kulthum, and many more!
------------------------------------------------------------------
BERO SAKER (vocals, oud):
Bero Sakram is a Syrian producer, composer and oud player based in Vancouver, BC. He has collaborated with such organizations as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO), Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra (VICO), Sofar Vancouver, Pangaea Arts, Awzan Events and many more. As a musician he has toured extensively throughout Canada and Syria, and has been featured in the Dawson City Music Festival, MENA Film Festival, explorASIAN Festival, Vancouver Outsider Artist Festival, Queensborough Children’s Festival, Whitehorse's Street Beats and Eats Festival, and Mission Children’s Festival. Bero is also active in music education, and teaches the oud and Arabic music theory.

KARAM SAHYOON (piano):
Karam is a self-taught pianist who started at the age of 4 in his hometown, Baghdad. By the age of 11, he migrated to Syria with his family due to the unfortunate circumstances of the country at the time. Nevertheless, his passion for music never stopped and continued his music journey throughout his stay in Syria, also when he moved to Canada in 2009, and up until the present times.

SALLY ZORI (doumbek):
A transgender Iraqi raised in the U.A.E. and different parts of “Canada”. Sally Zori (They/Them) is a session musician, percussionist, and content creator. They have played stages and theatres in North America, Europe, and Australia with different bands, orchestras, musicals, theatre shows, and (one new years eve in 2008) was the percussionist for Aretha Franklin. Today, they are a session musician, percussionist, and content creator, and are working on a short film project sharing how and where they find home as a third culture kid; they are in the early stages of exploring different mediums of art practices including video art, sound design, and projection design.
