Synopsis:
Experience the world premiere of “Swingin’ the Goat”, an exhilarating new work by Duane Andrews, blending the energy of jazz with the rich traditions of Newfoundland Folk Music. Commissioned by Jazz East Big Band and led by Bill Brennan, this new suite unites a powerhouse 20-piece jazz orchestra with a stellar ensemble of six folk musicians: Maria Cherwick, Gina Burgess, Gerry Strong, Richard Klaas, Brad Klucowicz, and Andrew Dale.
The evening also features a special performance by acclaimed local vocalist Sean Panting, making his debut with Jazz East Big Band.
Also taking the stage is the Rotary Jazz Band, conducted by Susan Evoy. They will present an exciting program, including a brand new work by Canadian composer Matthew Roome.
