Roots & Resistance: Diversity in Aloha ʻĀina Mixer

ʻŌpio and emerging professionals are invited to join the Sierra Club of Hawaiʻi and allies for an evening of connection, reflection, and action at Roots & Resistance: Diversity in Aloha ʻĀina, a special gathering celebrating the diverse voices that have shaped Hawaiʻi’s environmental movement. Enjoy delicious pupu, participate in hands-on activities that help us envision and affirm our collective responsibility to protect both people and ʻāina, and discover new ways to deepen your involvement in aloha ʻāina efforts.

As institutions distance themselves from commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion, this event serves as a declaration: Our movements are strongest when they uplift all people. We recognize and honor the essential roles that Kānaka ʻŌiwi, people of color, LGBTQ+ communities, and many others have played—and continue to play—in stewarding Hawaiʻi’s ʻāina, wai, and kai.

This free event will feature ʻono food from Da Spot (vegetarian- and vegan-friendly), hands-on activities such as solidarity sign-making, knowledge and quote sharing to strengthen solidarity and organizing, advocacy actions for a livable future, connection-building, and other creative outlets. 

Despite the silence or complicity of powerful institutions, we know that the seeds of change are already being planted. Join us in cultivating a future where aloha ʻāina is truly inclusive—one rooted in justice, diversity, and the strength of our collective voices.
