Roots & Realities: Presenting Black Legacies in the Modern World

Come join us at The Butterfly Bar @ The VORTEX for an exciting community kickoff celebrating culture, history, and innovation. The Rogers Washington Holy Cross, in collaboration with E4 Youth, presents an event for neighbors, friends, and families to connect and share their stories. Community members will have an opportunity to experience the premiere of the oral histories of the Rogers Washington Holy Cross neighborhood documented through new technologies, forever preserving first-hand accounts of those who pioneered historical East Austin.

Activities include:

• Panel featuring project participants as they discuss their experience and the importance of being seen and heard.
• Virtual Reality (VR) Experiences: Explore immersive VR setups, offering a glimpse into the stories of the neighborhood with the E4 Youth team.
• Panel Discussion: A panel featuring conversations between E4 Youth members and elders of RWHC, highlighting intergenerational perspectives on community, history, and progress
• Live Music
• Neighborhood Tours: Take part in guided tours of the neighborhood, exploring its rich history and culture.
