Rooting into the Body: An Art & Sound Journey
About this Event
The world outside is heavy. For marginalized communities, the ongoing realities of systemic oppression and social unrest aren't just headlines—they are weights we carry in our bodies every single day. It is an ambient noise that threatens to break us apart, isolation that tells us we must be strong enough to handle it all alone.
But your body was never meant to contain it all. You do not have to navigate this landscape on your own.
Rooting is a soft place to land and a powerful place to reclaim your agency. Facilitated by Abbey Monsalud (LCPC, ATR) and Chloe Marshall (LPC), this creative therapy workshop is a space built in direct response to the friction of our times. Together, we will return to the earth and to ourselves. We will lean into ancestral practices—using the resonant frequencies of singing bowls and steel tongue drums—to soothe and reset a hyper-vigilant nervous system. We will return to nature, using foraged, organic materials to intuitively create art that externalizes what is heavy.
Let’s root into our bodies as we root for each other. Let's transform the weight we have received into collective resilience.
What to Expect:
- Ancestral Sound Bath: Experience the grounding vibrations of singing bowls and steel tongue drums, specifically channeled to calm the nervous system and offer deep somatic rest.
- Art from the Earth: A return to nature through tactile creation. We will use natural materials to craft an art piece that symbolizes our personal and collective agency.
- Expansive Play & Community: A gentle, collaborative environment to reconnect with joy, exploration, and mutual support.
Who This Is For:
This space is intentionally held for those feeling the weight of systemic oppression and social unrest. No artistic or musical background is required—just a desire to breathe a little easier, together.
