Matt Hammitt is a Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, author, and speaker. Best known as the lead singer of the band Sanctus Real from 1996–2016, he has received three Dove Awards and two Grammy nominations, writing many chart-topping songs performed by Sanctus Real and other notable artists.
An Ohio native now living in Nashville with his wife Sarah and their four children, Matt stepped away from Sanctus Real in 2016 to prioritize family life. That life-altering decision is at the heart of his book Lead Me: Finding Courage to Fight for Your Marriage, Children, and Faith, a raw and unfiltered account of his personal journey through faith, marriage, and fatherhood.
Matt has released three solo albums, and in 2025 signed a new deal with Gotee Records, marking a new season of music. He also leads LO CLOUD, an independent rock project that leans into the raw beauty of doubt, struggle, and wonder
Whether he’s writing songs, speaking on stage, or creating content to encourage others, Matt’s message remains the same: presence over perfection, and purpose in every season.
